MOBILE SAWMILLING

IMG_9402.jpg

You’ve taken a tree down. Now you have a choice: pay to haul it off, cut it up for firewood  — or turn it into something valuable, personal, and lasting.  At Browning Forestry Specialties, we bring the sawmill to you and turn your logs into usable lumber.

Why have your tree milled instead of hauling it away? A mature tree can produce hundreds of board feet of lumber. That’s material you’d otherwise pay to dispose of, then pay again to buy back from a store. - Turn a problem into a resource: Instead of a pile of logs in the yard, you end up with neatly stacked boards, slabs, or beams ready for projects now or later. - Preserve the story of your tree: Maybe it shaded your house for decades, or your kids played under it. Milling lets you keep that history alive in a table, mantle, or bench instead of losing it to the chipper. - Get better wood than the big box stores: Many yard trees—walnut, oak, maple, cherry—produce beautiful, character-filled lumber you simply can’t buy off the shelf. - Save on material costs: If you plan to build anything in the future, having your own lumber on hand can significantly cut project costs.
What you can do with your own lumber? Once your tree is milled, you’re not stuck with one option. You can use it right away, store it to dry for later, or sell some of it. Common uses include: - Furniture projects: Tables, desks, benches, shelves, bed frames, coffee tables, nightstands. - Home and cabin features: Fireplace mantels, ceiling beams, trim, window sills, stair treads, accent walls. - Outdoor projects: Picnic tables, garden beds, fences, pergolas, benches, shed framing. - Keepsakes and heirlooms: Cutting boards, picture frames, small boxes, plaques—perfect for gifts that actually mean something. You don’t have to be a woodworker today to benefit. Properly stacked and dried, your lumber will be ready whenever you are—or for a future owner of the property.
How our mobile sawmilling works is simple for you! 1. We look at your logs. 2. We bring the mill to you. 3. We mill to your needs. 4. You keep the lumber.
Why do this right after the tree is cut? - Best time to mill is when it's freshly cut log. This makes it easier to saw and less likely to develop deep cracks and rot if they’re milled and stacked correctly early on. - The longer logs sit on the ground, the more insects, fungus, and weather damage them. Milling soon after removal preserves more good wood. - Milling turns bulky logs into organized stacks of lumber, making your property look tidier and easier to maintain.
